Open Shell Tote

Hand-crocheted cotton tote worked in open shell rows, with a scalloped top and long braided straps.

The body is stacked fans, light enough to fold and firm enough to hold a book, a market bunch, or a light day out. The scalloped edge finishes the opening, and the straps are tied on at the shoulders so they sit as part of the stitch. Cotton softens with use and keeps its shape better than a loose yarn bag.

It is an open stitch, so small loose items are better in a pouch inside. Hand-crocheted, so the drape varies slightly from one bag to the next. Spot clean and lay flat to dry.
